Why does the image you sent me look odd?

When opening a JPG that we have supplied you, you may notice that the image appears grainy, "jaggy", streched or widened ... in other words, it just doesn't look right.  This is likely due to a functionality that is automatically implemented by Internet Explorer (IE).

The function works like this.  If you open an image that is larger than the window in which you are browsing the image, IE will automatically shrink the image so that it fits entirely in your viewing window.  A "shrunk" image will often not look clear or cris compared to the actual image you should be viewing.

To view the image in its intended size:

  • Open the image using IE
  • Hover your mouse over the image
  • After a moment, you will see a small icon in the bottom right corner of the image
    • The icon has outward facing arrows in each corner
  • Click that icon and the image will expand to its actual size

Hopefully this image will look much better than the "shrunk" version.
