I just switched to Cox Internet, I can't send emails!

If you use an email client like Microsoft Outlook to send and receive emails, you know that you need to adjust Outlook's settings in order to send and receive emails through CNS' servers correctly. We most likely provided you with Outlook settings at some point along the way which you applied to your Outlook client. If you have recently made the switch to Cox Communications and you are now using them as your Internet provider, you have probably noticed that you can no longer send outgoing emails. This is because Cox Communications requires that you use their outgoing mail port. This is often referred to as the smtp port. To solve this problem, simply contact Cox Communications and do the following ...
They should be able to walk you through the steps necessary to make the change to your outgoing mail port. Note: the only change you need to make is to your outgoing mail server. You do not need Cox to help you change any other settings. They may attempt to try to help you set up an email address through their company (e.g. johndoe@cox.com). You do not need to do this in order to solve your outgoing mail problem. When you get off the phone with them, your incoming mail port should be the same as it was prior to you making the switch to Cox. Your outgoing mail server should be set to Cox's mail port. You should be all set to send and receive email just like before. |
