What is Tracker?
Tracker is a communication tool that CNS created to keep projects and tasks organized. A "Tracker task" is created for each task that needs to be completed. As a result, each task gets its own "web page" so to speak. Each task's "web page" contains:
- Basic information on the task - what project does it belong to, what is the estimate of the task, etc.
- Subscriber's list - who has subscribed to this task (click here for more info on the subscriber's list)
- A listing of all messages that have been posted to the task by anyone: managers, programmers, clients, etc.
In other words ...
Tracker is communication
-
With Tracker, all correspondence for each task has its own web page in a sense. Should a manager, programmer or client need to find any old or current information on a given task, he or she only needs to go to that task's web page on Tracker. Should someone have a question or a comment, he or she can simply post to Tracker and everyone that is subscribed to the task will be notified of the new post and can of course rspond if necessary.
Tracker is organization
- Tracker is a preferable alternative to email. Instead of emailing about the status of a given task, one only needs to go to Tracker. The task's status will likely be there in plain view. And if it isn't, a post to Tracker will alert all involved and the appropriate person can then respond.
Tracker is productivity
